At Bar TT Ranch Entlebuchers, we breed for Health, Longevity and Temperament. What does this mean? We don’t chase big name, dog show winners to use as mates because of their titles. We don’t compromise health for popularity nor longevity for convenience nor temperament for cuteness.
We begin our breeding with excellent health records of the parents of any puppy we consider to be part of our breeding future. We research their pedigree and the health and longevity of their ancestors. We search for existing offspring and any health records that they have published. We visit with owners and others who know or knew the dogs in person to determine aspects of their temperament.
We use the online Entlebucher Pedigree Database to access health records and evaluate potential puppies and mates. We form connections with other Entlebucher breeders in Canada, USA and across Europe. We volunteer our time to NEMDA, the Entlebucher breed club in North America and build our knowledge and contacts through our work.
We belong to NEMDA, the breed club and its BCOE, Breeder Code of Ethics group. We abide by their strict breeding and health testing requirements. We encourage all puppy owners to complete health testing and to breed their dogs when qualified. We provide information and assistance to puppy owners to help them achieve these requirements. Every Entlebucher puppy we produce is part of our family. We will always care for these pups if something happens to their owner.
We believe that the Entlebucher in North America and in fact around the world is in danger. We don’t have a very big population and even fewer breed. Our gene pool has been continuously shrinking since the breed was formed and is dangerously small. We look for families who are willing to take on this big challenge and learn to be responsible breeders under our supervision. You don’t need to know everything, but you do need to be willing to learn and to work hard for this wonderful breed.
Please join us in our work to conserve this breed for the future!
